Fair & Bare is a ethical t-shirt company based near Cardiff, UK. All our shirts have been designed and chosen by our community of site visitors.
We want to benefit everyone in the production chain, from cotton growers through to designers when each of our shirts are sold. We started Fair & Bare as a response to the lack of ethically produced clothing that was available that we ourselves would wear. We could get great designs on shirts, we could get great materials - but the two didn’t often seem to be well combined.
We use t shirts sourced from the Epona clothing company, Traidcraft and Ethical threads - all of which use Fairtrade certified cotton. Our belief is that by working with companies such as these seeking to change cotton farming methods in these areas, we will have a better quality product overall. The majority of our shirts are also produced with water based inks, which reduces the number of chemicals used during the printing process. We're lucky enough to be able to work with some great local printers who've helped us along the way
The FAIRTRADE Mark ensures that small-scale cotton farmers in developing countries get a better deal and can improve their livelihoods. You can read more about the FAIRTRADE Mark at the Fairtrade Foundations website (fairtrade.org.uk).
Fair & Bare is run by Ian from Nifty Digits Ltd and he is often helped by his wonderful family. We handle all orders, shipping and printing of designs alongside our usual day jobs.
