Hello! Love the site. Great concept and awesome designs so far!
Can you let me know if the Fairtrade cotton in Fair & Bare products is loomed and the t-shirts manufactured according to Fairtrade standards. If so, what certification(s) are held and/or models adhered to?
Welcome Rache - I’ve been wondering when this question would pop up!
As I’m sure you’re aware - ensuring that the entire t-shirt production process adheres to Fairtrade standards is extremely difficult. The fact we’re printing these designs in the UK makes it even more confusing…
As we’ve written on our about us page we use Epona Fairtrade certified cotton. That statement only really guarantees that the cotton is grown according to fairtrade standards, but Epona work with the Fairtrade labeling organisation (FLO) at all stages of the process. The factories which Epona use also are also certified using joint initiative criteria. You can read more about the shirts over at www.eponaclothing.com/fairtrade.php.
This isn’t to say that Epona is the only Fairtrade shirt manufacturer that we’ll ever make use of. If we find another shirt manufacturer which better meets our requirements (which include things like cut, feel etc) we may offer the option to purchase the shirts on multiple shirt types.
Hope that helps!
