Latest Releases About Us @fairandbare
Just a quick post to query what people would most like to see from us in the future. This could be products or actual features on the website. Is there anything that bugs you about how things work at the minute? Let us know so we can change it!
Hey ian. Personally I think the fact that in all this time you have only printed one tee is a potential reason why more people aren’t submitting. It definitely is a reason why I am submitting potential designs elsewhere instead of here. I understand that perhaps none of the currently subbed designs juice you enough to print but perhaps it is something to consider? Btw, my design got 6.15 - that’s pretty good isn’t it? ;)
You’re not wrong, that is pretty good. I think it’s a fine balancing act for us to strike between choosing printing lots of designs in the early days and maybe selling less, or printing a few designs that get extremely high scores and getting a few more sales there. I don’t know which is the best way, maybe there’s another.
Thanks for the feedback man.
I think you are going to have to make a decision either way sooner rather than later because until that point the site looks a bit too ‘theoretical’ to submit designs to from a designer’s point of view.
My thoughts:
I agree with Dale Edwin that you need to print regularly to have the designs and buyers coming in.
Have a shirt at, say every 2 monts at least, no matter how many submissions. I think there will always be a design worthwile printing. This gives people confidence about the continuation of the brand, and makes it more interesting to make a design.
At the moment people might think a second shirt might never happen and they mighnt want to take the risk of making a design in vain. Having a set date for the 2nd print, and announcing that date as well as announcing (loudly) that prints will happen every month/2 months might be a good idea.
As soon as people see you are here to stay the submissions will start rolling in, more nice shirts will come out of it, and buyers will find their way to your site.
I’m tempted to make a second, dedicated design for fair and bare because I really like the Fair and Bare concept. Knowing prints will happen no matter how many other designs arrive in would be a big motivator for me and other designers to design more for you.
Ok Dale, I’ll bear your thoughts in mind.
@gumbolimo - Yes I can understand that having no degree of certainty about when prints are going to happen is a fair old turn off. Maybe we should set it to be a bi-monthly event then?
(Apologies for my wonky english)
Just to say, I really appreciate the feedback here guys, thanks very much - anyone else care to offer some food for thought?
That sounds like a good idea, especially if you announce it in advance.
I think that it is certainly a good idea to have a shirt printed every 2 months. That doesn’t seem to be a too unreasonable timeframe for a starting point. Perhaps you could also limit the number of tees that you print, to make them more special. (if that is financially viable, or perhaps you get bigger discounts for larger print runs making the shirts cheaper for you to print, but run the risk of not selling them all??)... I also think that the artist’s name should appear in the shirt, like it does on the inside of Threadless shirts. That way the artist is also given recognition beyond the Fair and Bare site, and gives you an opportunity to advertise a little more with the FAB logo and get some brand recognition going. Indeed, having more colours in the designs is a great improvement, and should also be a reason for more people to submit, or at the very least, for those artists who have subbed before, to do so again with a new, more colourful design.
On the whole, I like how your site is set up, and I have no problems finding my way around, sure, there will be teething problems here and there, but those are simple to sort out (as you have already done so recently).
The concept of your site is outstanding, and is what makes me hope that FAB will snowball into something huge. The recent email shoot will hopefully bring some new designs in, followed by more voters, and with new shirts printed regularly, more buyers.
Great work Ian!
I agree with a lot of the things that have been said by the others already.
I am here because I like the concept of your site, and I hope it will become a big thing.
Having a set date of print would certainly help getting more designers interested to sub here.
For me the vagueness about when the next print might be is one of the reasons I have subbed only one thing so far.
Also, It’s a bit funny to be your own competition which is the case a little bit.
Other then that a lot of how i feel has been said so.....
Cheers people for all the help. It’s all much appreciated.
In response to these comments we’re going to be scheduling regular print dates and posting them up on Fair & Bare. It’s likely there will be one at the beginning of November, and again in December. Hope that suits people!
That is great news Ian! I look forward to see the new prints and the action heatening up. If I speak to other designers, i’ll let them know about this too, let’s see if we can them involved.
That sounds great Ian
Looking forward to seeing the new print!
Great news.
I can’t wait to see what will happen.
I’m working on a new design too.
You will see that coming your way when it’s done.
@gumbolimbo - That would be grand, the more the merrier and all that!
@lonkiponk - Quality, looking forward to that!
Cheers all you guys, you rock!
